Finally back from Holiday… It’s my first time actually sitting at home and knowing I dont have to be anywhere in the next while in over 4 months! Radio/Writing tour, TOTL Tour, Holiday, Random travels, etc.. This is great! Got some good lyrics going here for a song working titled, “never enough,”

The Ch is actually really fun. Its not a downer or sad song… Its bad ass actually. Im not a fan of the VRS and PRE musically though. Just the CH…

DJ Shiny is writing some hot beats right now. Im very excited to start pushing some of his stuff!!

Stella got new dog food and she is farting all over the house. Its absolutely horrible and makes me want to cry.

On a higher note, LOP will start releasing weekly videos, getting back on a set weekly uStream and start hitting the streets of Los Angeles, VERY VERY hard. We obviously will finish this long awaited single and album as well.

I love you all, time for sleep. Oh and I scored 6 touchdowns against @lightsoverteece football team the other day. Teece needs to choose better players next time. If anyone knows Manning or Peterson’s number, please send it to Teece.

There’s something about being online mid flight that makes it that much better. I’ve been addicted to the computer screen for many years, but it just gets better and better for some reason. There is no diminishing marginal utility when it comes to the web.

Anyway, I am flying home from New York, just took a couple meetings out here, but more importantly took a song I had been writing and totally shifted it to another concept that has been brewing in my skull for years now. I just finished the entire song minus the CH lyrically and melodically. I don’t want to share the title of it yet because I am so excited to actually be able to share the music. There are songs that I write that I get a lot of fun out of. Songs I love to party and dance to, etc. There are songs that just hit me from an emotional standpoint, and I honestly think this song could be a decent mixture of the two.

After Thanksgiving break its back to the writing board and I am locking myself in the studio for months. I’ll give random updates here and there for sure with more pictures.

Please keep checking in with @LOPNATION because they are always up to no good and you can continue to stay actively involved with LOP even while we aren’t on the road!

Album/Single Update

Single/Album update!

I swear I am getting better at this blog thing… I was sitting on a plane yesterday for 5 hours and wrote a few verses to this beat called “REBLEDE.” I get so many songs that the band and other producers send to me called the weirdest things. Everyone has a “working title” for a song, and that’s where all these random names come from.

So what is the goal for this album everyone keeps asking me??? Well, the release goal would be a single in January and a full album come March or April. Of course a lot of things can change these dates. The single can affect the release date of the album depending on how great or good it does, and depending on what type of tour we have lined up can also affect that. I am not going to put out an album I am not 400% excited about. We want to play the songs live first as well to make sure they rock on stage just as well as they do in the studio.

So, for now, our whole team is constantly writing and writing and today I am writing to a working title called, “Easy_2,” I mean come on, you can come up with something better than that right??

Finally moved in!!! (and ironically off to NY)

For the past week the street team and the band have been packing up boxes and moving into our new places. This isn’t the most exciting thing to have to do after completing a 3 month tour (1 month radio, 2 month group). But when it comes down to it its for the WAY better. There are 3 studios in the new place with an incredible writing environment. We have also added a new tenant to the house named Kash. Kash is an amazing pop writer and has always been really excited to bounce ideas around for LOP. Not to mention all the other projects he is involved with, that I as a writer will hopefully be jumping onto.

So now that we are finally moved in and the computers are set up, I am flying to New York to take up a management meeting. Since we as a band want to tour all over the place and continue to write songs, we are aiming to get an awesome management team in place within the next month or so.

When I get back on Wednesday I am going to drop and say hi to the family, and then it is pretty much non stop writing and recording. I want to have at least 1 demo done per day and we plan to have a solid single ready to launch early January!

Just spent about 4 hours cleaning the house… Doesn’t look like much of a dent was put into anything despite 6 trash boxes 6 foot 7 that are filled to the brim. Kash is cruisin over and we are going to work on some melody and lyrical ideas for a new track and then I’m off to the USC game. Too bad its the 2010 season.

Home Sweet Home!

Tonight I’m hanging out at my parents house in Orange County. Since we have been gone for so long I thought I’d come home and visit the fam. I am extra excited and motivated today because I just read on Mark Hoppus’ blog that Blink has been in the studio this month and is working hard on their new album. Yes!!!

Speaking of new album, we get to hear a potential single named “FALLEN (In Love)” mixed by the almighty Serban probably tomorrow!

Now that the whole crew is back home we are all having a moment of post tour syndrome and miss being on the road. We do leave tomorrow for our show in Scottsdale, Arizona, but for the most part we are back home.

A lot of people have this idea of what a tour with a rock band would be. Although this tour was amazing and allowed us to make new fans, see a ton of new cities I never thought I would ever see, and much more, I have to be 100% honest and say that this wasn’t THE tour that everyone imagines. There was an insane load of work, not only for the band but for LOPNation. Making sure the shows were filled in cities where we had no radio play was definitely a challenge and much easier said than done. To show up to a dead city like Des Moines, IA on a weekday with no school in session was near impossible to find a single person on the streets or out and about. It was seriously a Ghost Town. Then you had cities like Chicago and New York that were packed. Columbus was one of my favorite shows because we had met new fans from our Warped Tour promotion and the energy from the kids was insane, but we ended on a very very high note and that being the Wichita, Kansas show. This was our first big radio show and it left us feeling nothing but motivation. We killed this show, and there was 1000 plus kids that are now LOP fans for life. All in all we gained what we needed from this tour and that was experience. It was all for allowing the band to become tight as a whole and most importantly, me being the best front man and entertainer I could be. I’ve gone to 1000’s of shows and have left very disappointed when there was no energy or stage chemistry with the bands. I want to make sure its not only a rock show, but the bands personality is able to shine as well. Which leads me to my last thought….

The Roxy Theatre in Hollywood, CA. This is our last show of the 2010 TURN OFF THE LIGHTS tour. Not only is LOP going to rock the show, but we are having an afterparty that will leave people talking for years, maybe the rest of their life immediately following the performance. So far I have had word that 300-400 people alone are arriving to the show and party via Party Busses! Add the additional few hundred friends the other bands few hundred they are inviting, and then the 100s of kids that will just come to the show. The Roxy only holds 550 people max, and the afterparty only holds 400. There are going to be some pissed off people. We are switching up the set at the Roxy to make it special for the Halloween theme we got going on.

Now its time to get some sleep. Its a 6 hour drive to Arizona and LOP has a flag football game against the other band that we are playing with on the tour. Going to destroy them… AGAIN.

Virginia Beach, VA!

Lovin’ tour so far!! Right now I am lucky to have a few days off in Virginia Beach, VA. I took some time to start on a few new songs. Some are pop, some are rock and some are very dance/techno style. All very cool and no melody I spit out right now is wrong…

Time for some oatmeal and bed though. Looking forward to the show tomorrow night at Peabody’s!

Touring Life

Sept 1st we started our first nation wide tour. Thus far we have conquered 10 cities and just arrived in Chicago to rock number 11 tomorrow night. Touring life is tough for a start up project, anyway you look at it. Right now there is 3 groups that are touring with us and everyone is working extremely hard in their own way. LOP is fortunate enough to have an amazing crew with us which is responsible for setting up, tearing down, making sure the sounds are right, making sure the front of house doesn’t randomly go out in the middle of a set. The crew makes things look more official and also give the band as a whole more time to enjoy themselves. The other bands not only hustle in the streets to get awareness for themselves, but they have to set up merch, set up their instruments, do their sound check, tear down after the show, sell their merch, etc. LOP has LOPNation traveling with and their sole purpose is to gain awareness for the band, hustle the streets, make new friends, and slang merch.

Surprisingly, I get most of my work done early morning and have days off to sit around, look for t-shirts, and do whatever needs to be done (work out, write, etc). Friends have randomly flown out to visit and rock a show or two, and they get a little taste of the schedule of the touring life. Partying happens here and there, but not as much as you would hope. Everyone parties really hard when the time is right and takes it easy on other days to make sure we are good to go for the next show. I strategically scheduled no shows on Sundays to allow for Fantasy Football and to actually attend games at whatever stadium happens to be closest. This Sunday I am stoked because I get to see Manning VS Manning in Indianapolis.

The actually shows have been great for the most part. The first show was an acoustic show for 500 kids in Modesto for a Top40 radio station. That show absolutely rocked. The first real full band show was in San Fran. I hated this show. The front of house had problems, our sounds were really messed up, and it was our first show which obviously had a ton of mistakes and was just a huge learning curve. The second show was in Portland, OR and was fantastic. We partied hard after the show and couldn’t see straight for a few days. Some venues have a lot of kids, and some have 40. Totally depends on the city, radio play, and the amount of hustle the street team put into things. A show can really make or break your mood for the next few days.

The one thing I do know is that everybody is learning from each show. It doesn’t matter how many previous shows you have played in your life, with this specific project, everyone is getting better and better from each show that is played. Last night in Milwaukee we played for the hearing impaired and we had an interpreter on stage signing the entire show. This was great, and since our light show is awesome they really really enjoyed it they said. TOTL was their favorite because the hand sign is very very simple and the lights that went with it really moved them.

Right now we just got back from seeing “The Town” and I am sitting in my room at the Hard Rock Hotel. Earlier today we picked up some new clothes and had Chicago deep dish pizza. Tomorrow night we are rocking the club at 9:30 and then going out after. I assume we won’t remember much and the following morning we are off to Indy to watch the game!

Overall, tour is a blast and it’s getting more and more fun the more and more we learn and excel at all of our positions. I cannot wait to hit New York, Boston, VA Beach, and of course the Roxy…
